Germany targets Indian tourists with portrayal of a family tourism destination

SouthWest Germany Tourism Board is planning to showcase Germany as a family destination in the Indian market. Opulentus Germany"Indian travellers have the distinction of spending the highest number of nights in SouthWest Germany as compared to other nationalities. The average length of stay recorded by Indians are 6.8 nights per visit. From January to November 2012, SouthWest Germany recorded 22,000 Indian travellers and 150,000 overnights. When it comes to spending, Indian travellers spend high amounts on big ticket purchases, dining and entrance fees to amusement parks and monument sites." "SouthWest Germany is a year-round destination. India is a big potential market and ranks among the top ten source markets for SouthWest Germany. We have designed special packages for the family segment. SouthWest Germany holds the largest wine festival and beer festival in the world. We will be taking part in trade fairs to promote the destination among the Indian clientele." "We will be promoting destinations like Europa Park, The Heide Park, Mercedes-Benz Museum, Porsche Museum, Baden Baden, Black Forest and Stuttgart. We will leverage on the travel cards, Cuckoo Specialist Training Programme (so far 350 travel agents have completed the programme), trade fairs, events and festivals to showcase the destination.
